The saltwater motorcycle is an educational toy that encourages children to explore chemistry, energy transfers, renewable energy, and motion.
The kit is easy to assemble and uses a fuel cell that is “powered” by saltwater. In fact, it is the reaction between dissolved salt and magnesium that powers a small motor. The motorcycle has three modes: driving in a straight line, turning right or left, and turning in an “S” pattern.
No batteries required. A fun opportunity to discover the world of alternative energy while building your own vehicle.
Runs for up to three hours on one saltwater refill. Two additional magnesium sheets included.
Ages 10 and up.
Made in Taiwan

Salt Water Fuel Cell Motorcycle tips and troubleshooting
Make sure enough salt is used in the water solution (too much is fine)
Make sure the layers are correct. First, air cathode (black), then nonwoven fabric (white) and finally the magnesium sheet on top)
The cartridge may be pushed in too far or not far enough. Slowly push in or pull out until the wheels start spinning. In other words, gently ease the cartridge inward until you hit a sweet spot and the wheels begin to move. At this point you can let the cartridge go because there is no need to push it in any further.
When trying to get the kit to work, make sure your hand is not on back wheels keeping them from spinning.
